I just had my first taste of Jamaican food here today. It was amazing! The beef patty was super flavorful and so were the wings. The Jerk Chicken Plate took it all to the next level. It was smokier than the wings and made a huge difference. The sides were also delicious, especially the rice and the cabbage stuff.
Lamar and Alex (I hope I heard your names correctly) were super friendly and welcoming. The Food came out very quickly too.
Can't go wrong here as far as I know. Will be coming back.
This is the best Jamaican food in San Jose and it’s not even close. If you want island vibes and flavors then this is your spot. It’s located right across from city hall. You can get here by walking, train or bus. In the past I have had the jerk tacos which are very fresh and flavorful. Today I ate Rasta pasta, oxtail and cabbage with lemonade.
Lemonade was very sweet and reminded me of home. The pasta was cooked perfectly with a creamy sauce along with red and green peppers. It could stand alone as a meal. The plantain was a little tough but the flavors still came out.
The oxtail deserves its own paragraph. OMG… 🤤 I feel like taking a good nap afterwards. It’s seasoning, texture and taste made me feel like I was Stella getting my groove back.
Food comes with high quality to-go containers so you can share the joy with your family when you get home. 😊

We stopped by on our day trip to San Jose from Monterey. Thank you to the owner who was quite courteous to us and made the experience more than we could’ve asked. Great conversation. Very welcoming. The food was delicious! Very tender and flavorful meats. I love curry goat so I had to try it first! My brother got the brown stewed chicken. Everything was on point. The beef patties were also scrumptious. We got multiple flavors and I froze the leftover patties so I can enjoy them later. Thank you Island taste for serving us good eats! We will be visiting again.
I mean where do I begin?!
I’ll try to complete this review but it’s hard with the amount of excitement from my food being right here in front of my face and me ready to devour it!
The rasta pasta is amazing! It’s so creamy and the peppers are cooked to perfection. After my first time ordering it’s safe to say I ordered it 2 more times the same week.
Tonight, I was blessed to try the veggie patties - they’re so comforting and flaky. It kinda gives me the vibes of a hand-held pot pie and I love that for me.
The spiced cornbread muffins - I’m not even sure it that’s what they’re called but they are absolutely delicious and really dense.
I feel truly blessed to have stumbled upon this gem. The restaurant is very clean and inviting. The staff are top tier and feel like family from the first encounter. 10 out of 10!! & I mean that. You need to eat here, like now.

Good vibes all around....
Let me start by saying there is no picture of my curry goat because it is already in my stomach! With that being said, I found my new spot for authentic Caribbean food here in California. Growing up in New York I've eaten West Indian food my whole life and I can tell when it is the real deal. This spot also carries some Haitian delicacies as well which is very rare...two words BLACK RICE...yes lawd.
The curry goat is phenomenal. That needed a sentence all in itself. I rarely order curry goat at restaurants because I'm always afraid that it is going to be tough but this goat definitely fell off the bone. The peas and rice is made with Jasmine rice so it is not as heavy and it holds the flavor really well. The cabbage was cooked perfectly and the portion was huge so I was able to eat out of it three times! The quality of the food and the value of the portion hit the spot.
I've been telling everybody about this place because spreading love is the Brooklyn way! Stop in this spot and try a few different things so that you can see for yourself. See you there and make sure you leave some curry goat for me...lol
The best Jamaican food I had in the Bay. THE CHICKEN IS HALAL. The owner was very kind and welcoming and the service was great even though we got there closer to closing. The portions are huge. The flavor is on point, you could tell they use fresh ingredients, and the chicken is fall off the bone juicy. The first thing I did when I left was plan my next trip back here.
this new place downtown is simply amazing. Do not listen to the negative reviews here, they are from people with poor taste or unreasonable gripes about tiny things.
not only is the food here very authentic, the owner/staff are extremely gracious and happy to help with recommendations and information. I tried multiple menu items and they were all delicious and filling.
come hungry and order multiple things, and try the scotch bonnet hot sauces available on the counter.
Tried this new place tonight, really liked it! I had the oxtail entree, and it was the best I’ve ever had! The meat was tender and tasty, and the dark gravy was awesome! Mixed with the rice and plantains, it was very flavorful! My wife had the coconut curry garbanzo bean entree, and really enjoyed it! The curry was very flavorful but not spicy. She loved the plantains too! Big portions, enough for almost two meals. Mark was very nice, helpful, and generous. I ended up getting more rice and oxtail gravy to go! We will be back with more friends!
